Quote: Stage 2

I'll provide you with a total quote after hearing you're request.

Please note that these are based on an estimated total of time it will take me to complete your piece. This can end up being less, or more, than the quote.

If you have a price cap, let me know as soon as possible - there is no shaming here. But my time is scheduled very tightly and I cannot be arranging any in-person meets without a deposit.

Let's talk: Stage 3

There are some options around this stage. If you've got a picture that's perfect the way it is: the image clearly shows your pet in good lighting, shows proportions, and you have no further comments about composition, then this is where I can really gain a feel for your pets personality and what it represents. What's your fondest memory? What have you accomplished together? Why did you decide to get them - what was it about this pet that made you know; that's the one! Tell me about your best friend because that's what I'm capturing. A partnership so strong it's crossed species!

If you are taking multiple elements from different photos, have more than one animal, or you just aren't sure how you want your pet to look or how this piece arranged, then this stage is where we can really explore those options.

I will make contact first by text to ask what communication medium you would prefer and from there we can arrange any of the following:

Meeting up & doing this together - where we explore the pictures you have, cut out elements and physically arrange them together. This depends on where you are in the UK. Travel charges may apply.

Video call, Phone call - where we discuss the above but on the phone, I'll make plenty of notes and my own doodles to gather some ideas. If you have your own, please share them! This is really helpful. Do not use AI. Let's be creative together without harming the planet.

Whatsapp - Send me your photos and ideas by message, and I'll draft blueprint ideas for you to select from.

All of these are great options, not one better than the other, but it is truly about what approach you, the customer, would like to take.

Blue Print stage: Stage 4

Blue Print: Stage 4

After the arrangement of your piece is decided, I always begin my pieces with what I call as my 'blue print' stage.

A little background to this is linked to when I did cyanotypes in A-level Photography. Cyanotypes are the origins of blueprints, due to a reaction that's triggered by light, turning the chemical from green to a vibrant blue. I incorporated this same blue into my Art Alevel pieces and found a love for deep blues in areas that show darkness or shadows (hence why you'll see a lot of this in my drawings!).

This step is closely linked with the discussions named above because it's the foundation of your piece and a physical representation of our discussions around arrangement.

Please note: these blueprints represent the poses, relationships/dynamics in the piece and may not be fully proportionate.

Inital deposit: Stage 5

Before going further, a deposit of 25% of the estimated total is required.

This will be sent via a link on Sumup.

This covers the first 'quarter' of drawing time, which will then be sent to you for constructive comments.

First Quarter Check-in: Stage 6

This is where I send a check in after completing approximately 25% of the estimated drawing time (leeway for overtime here). The aim of this is to provide a quality example of the drawing style and some detail.

This is the time to consider - Do you like the style?

What elements don't you like?

Has anything from our Stage 4 plans changed?

Think of this stage as a review: Are you happy to continue forward?

This is not a stage to make serious or extreme changes that will add extra work.

Small adaptations are fine.

If you are happy to proceed, then the rest of the quote is required in full. This will be sent via a link on Sumup.

Mid-End: Stage 7

I'll keep you updated through the process for any more small edits and changes.

If you'd like to opt out of this so it's a surprise, I recommend providing a second point of contact who can check in with me for the above.

Feel free to message me on whatsapp if you'd like to have an update, but please do not call me. If you'd like a call, please text me and we'll arrange a time together.

Once your piece is finished, I'll send you a notification for your approval. I provide a limit of an hour and a half of editing and changes time for any final touches, but this is dictated by me (Wendy) and not the client. If you are unhappy with the final product and request additional changes, you may be required to pay for this upfront. Proof of time taken can be requested, as I record all of my drawing processes.
