About Artworks by Wendy
The Artist
My inspiration comes from many different things; for my watercolour and canvas works, it’s the smell as the summer season comes to an end, leaves as the sun travels through them or the crunch of frosty grass at dawn. And just in my day to day, I express my creativity by collecting fragments of the passing time, adding to my memory box. Oh, how much it carries in such small four walls, living under my bed.
However, drawing, and my love for animals, has followed me through all stages of life.
My childhood was surrounded by creation and fascination with creatures, big or small. As a young girl, I went on many adventures around the garden, dogs in tow, discovering munching caterpillars amongst my mother's vegetable garden or snails on their travels across the flowerbeds. Finding hedgehogs in the leaf piles or spotting when robins had nested in the bird boxes.
Each exploration created new friends to draw.
Whether it be drawings of my latest discovery, my furry sidekicks who joined me on my expeditions or sketch studies from my animal encyclopaedia - I drew them all.
Some of my most significant memories with my grandmother include showing her my latest picture, of which she would proudly display in her kitchen and tell anyone who would listen about her granddaughter, the artist.
I would create cards for birthdays and holidays - sometimes to the despair of my mother, who would patiently clear up the pens and pencils afterwards, but also let me see how much she cherished it. Not many of my pieces were thrown away by her - instead, by me, ever the perfectionist.
Embracing these rituals from childhood makes up the foundations for Artworks by Wendy. It's also why my artworks are on cards and prints.
This wouldn't be possible without the support of my friends, whether they have requested drawings or just encouraged me in any form. My mother, who has taught me I can do anything - thank you!
And thank you, customers, for supporting me. I do this for the little girl who didn't think she could, and each sale is so precious to her because somebody likes the way she sees the world, even though it's what made her feel different.

Meet Doug
Head of HR, distribution and morale, and mentoring the new recruit. Often caught taking biscuit breaks or naps, but at 12 years young, he deserves it (and any complaints about this get archived in @HR).
Meet Benson
The new recruit at AbW, particularly passionate in the recycling and break-down of 'waste' product ready for re-use. Showing promise with developing his people skills but needs work on personal space.
